LGBTQ+ centre of the city
Chueca at night
In short
Chueca is Madrid’s LGBTQ+ nightlife neighbourhood, and it is busy every night, not only during Pride. Bars cluster around Plaza de Chueca and Calle de Pelayo. Teatro Barceló and Mondo Disko are on Calle de Barceló 11, a short walk north, and they are different events.
How to use Chueca
Start on the plaza. You do not need a single ‘best gay bar’ — the point of the barrio is that you can move. Pride (MADO) in July is a different city, with stages and a million visitors. On an October Thursday it is simply the neighbourhood that is already on.
Dress is freer than in Salamanca. Clubs on Barceló still refuse sportswear. The metro (Chueca, Gran Vía) closes around 1:30am.
Updated 26 October 2026. Hours and prices are typical 2026 ranges, not a live door price. Confirm the night before you go.
